Abstract


This research has been conducted to obtain the feasibility or validity of learning model based on multiple representations that has been developed. The development of this model is done to enhance learning model SiMaYang, to be applied to high school students by integrating scientific approach into the model SiMaYang, hereinafter called SiMaYang type 2. The study was conducted through field surveys in advance to obtain a picture of the learning needs of the chemical, further will be designed the model and the learning device. The results of the development of model of learning and teaching tools were tested by experts to obtain the validity/feasibility of the developed model. Test of experts were conducted by 5 people relevant experts. The results of the research showed that (1) SiMaYang learning model of type 2 is a high school chemistry teaching model based on multiple representations that have characteristics consistent with the foundation of constructivism learning theory, the theory of information processing, and dual coding theory. The purpose of this model is to teach abstract concepts, and it is associated with a macro phenomenon, sub-micro, and symbolic, and teaches skills in building a mental model to optimize the ability of imagination. Phases of the SiMaYang learning model has a characteristic of collaborative, cooperative, and imaginative. (2) The validity/feasibility of SiMaYang learning model of type 2 was high, where the results of the expert appraisal indicates that the content validity and construct validity of the model SiMaYangtype 2 has a high category.
