Abstract


The purposes of this study are (1) To determine the effect of the value of the courses concerning taking the Automotive concentration Mechanical Engineering Study Program year of 2011. (2) To determine the effect of student’s interest concerning taking the Automotive concentration Mechanical Engineering Education Study Program year of 2011. (3) To determine the effect of the concept of decision making concerning taking the Automotive concentration Mechanical Engineering Education Study Program year of 2011. This study was quantitative research. The method used in this research was descriptive. The population in this study were all of the students of Automotive concentration Mecahnical Engineering Education Program year of 2011, which the total students are 23. Samples were taken with a total sample technique. The technique of collecting data is documentation, questionnaires, and interviews. The validity of questionnaire research instruments was using the Product Moment Correlation approach of Pearson. The validity instruments test with a significance level of 5% in order to get the value of r product moment of 0.444. Reliability test was using the Alpha formula. The technique of data analysis in this research is using descriptive analysis. Based on this study concluded: (1) The value of prerequisite courses do not affect too much to the student’s decision concerning taking the Automotive concentrations. (2) Interests affect the students of automative concentration in taking Automotive concentration Mechanical Engineering Education Program JPTK FKIP UNS year of 2011. It is shown by the indicator of pleasure feelings that are at high category with a percentage of 95.65%. Concern at the high category with a percentage of 47.83%, and the student’s interest at the high category with the percentage of 69.57%. (3) The concept of decision making affects students of Automotive concentration Mechanical Engineering Education Program year of 2011 to take Automotive concentration. It is showed through the assumption of rationality indicators that were at very high category with a percentage of 60.87%, the limited rationality at the high category with a percentage of 47.83%, and intuitive decision-making at the high category with a percentage of 82.61%.
