THE CORRELATION OF WOMAN AND NATURE IN THE NOVEL AROMA KARSA BY DEWI LESTARI (A STUDY OF ECOFEMINISM)

Abstract


This study aims to describe how the relationship between women and nature is represented in the novel Aroma Karsa by Dewi Lestari using ecofeminism studies. Ecofeminism is in two interconnected disciplines, namely ecology which focuses attention on natural and environmental issues, and feminism, which pays particular attention to gender issues. This type of research is a qualitative descriptive study. The research method used in this study is a qualitative content analysis method. The data source used in this study is the novel Aroma Karsa by Dewi Lestari. Data collection techniques used in this study are documentation techniques based on the results of document analysis with reading and note taking techniques. The results of this study are that there is a close relationship between women and nature in the novel Aroma Karsa by Dewi Lestari represented symbolically through Puspa Karsa representing nature and women and ambition to dominate Puspa Karsa which represents masculinity (capitalist patriarchy). Destruction of nature also causes harm, not only to all people in general, but also specifically to women.
