This research was carried out in April and May at Sebelas Maret University in which 32 students took vocabulary mastery test, reading comprehension test, and
a questionnaire about reading strategies. The data were analyzed by using Pearson Product Moment and Multiple Correlation. It is found that: 1) rx1y=0.59 and to=4.0025 > tt=1.697 which means that there is a positive correlation between vocabulary mastery and reading comprehension; 2) rx2y= 0.49 and to 3.1 > tt 1.697 which means that there is a positive correlation between reading strategies and reading comprehension; and 3) Rx12.y=0.67 and Fo 11.175>3.33 which means that there is a positive correlation between vocabulary mastery,
reading strategies simultaneously and reading comprehension. In conclusion, having great vocabulary mastery and optimizing reading strategies use is crucial because they have a positive contribution to reading comprehension.
