AN ERROR ANALYSIS ON RECOUNT TEXTS MADE BY THE FIRST GRADE STUDENTS OF MAN 2 JEPARA

Abstract


Indonesian students as foreign language learners have difficulties in learning English. One of the students’ difficulties is in delivering ideas in a written form. They need to consider about the grammatical components of English that differ from Indonesian language. This article describes about errors made by the students in writing a recount text. Twenty four students from the first graders of MAN 2 Jepara were asked to write about their past experience. All students writing are, then, analyzed in order to investigate students’ errors. Based on the linguistic category, it can be concluded that the students have difficulties in morphology, syntax, vocabulary and meaning, and mechanics. Most students tend to have difficulties in syntax.
