PENERAPAN MODEL DISCOVERY LEARNING PADA PEMBELAJARAN IPS UNTUK MENINGKATKAN KEAKTIFAN DAN HASIL BELAJAR KOGNITIF SISWA SEKOLAH DASAR

Abstract


Abstract: The purpose of this study to increase grade 5 SDN Ngampon 5 student's engagement and achievement in Social Studies through the implementation of discovery learning, during the second semester of academic year 2017/2018. This researched is conducted in two cycles based on Classroom Action Research method by C. Kemmis and MC. Taggart. The subjects of the research were 22 grade 5 students. Data collected from this study was analyzed by descriptive qualitative and comparative descriptive techniques. It is found that there was a significant increase for both student's engagement and achievement on the first and second cycle compare to the pre-cycle. For the students' engagement, it is raised from 38% on pre-cycle to 86% on the first cycle and finally to 95% on the second cycle. Whereas, for the students' achievement, the percentage of students who pass the passing grade was raised from 43% during the pre-cycle, to 68% on the first cycle and 86% on the second cycle. Through the discovery of active students directly involved in finding information to problems solve with active group discussions put out ideas so that more understanding of the material delivered and the results of achievement increased.

 

 Abstrak: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan keaktifan dan hasil belajar kognitif melalui penerapan model discovery learning pada pembelajaran IPS  kelas 5 SD N Ngampon Semester II Tahun Ajaran 2017/2018. Jenis penelitian ini adalah PTK dilaksanakan dengan dua siklus dengan mengacu pada model spiral dari C. Kemmis dan MC. Taggart. Subjek berjumlah 22 siswa. Teknik analisis data menggunakan analisis deskriptif kualitatif dan deskriptif komparatif. Persentase kenaikan keaktifan dan hasil belajar kognitif dari prasiklus ke siklus I, siklus II dari  38% kategori aktif dan hasil belajar kognitif 43% tuntas, menjadi  86% kategori aktif dan  68% tuntas siklus I, menjadi 95% kategori aktif dan 86% tuntas siklus II. Melalui penemuan siswa aktif terlibat langsung dalam mencari informasi untuk memecahkan masalah dengan diskusi kelompok aktif mengeluarkan gagasan sehingga lebih memahami materi yang disampaikan dan hasil belajar kognitif meningkat.
