Abstract


The objectives of this research are to investigate: 1) whether or not there is a significant correlation between the social interaction in peer group and the learning achievement; 2) whether or not there is a significant correlation between the learning motivation and the learning achievement; and 3) whether or not there is a simultaneously significant correlation of the social interaction in peer group and the learning motivation to the learning achievement in Office Equipment Management of the students in Grade XI of the Office Administration Department of State Vocational High School 1 of Surakarta in Academic Year 2012/2013 as many as 76 students. The samples of the research consisted of 45 students or 60% of the total number of students in Grade XI of the school. They were taken by using the proportional random sampling technique. The data of the research were gathered through questionnaire and documentation and were then analyzed by using the multiple linear regression technique of analysis. The results of the research are as follows: 1) there is a significant correlation between the social interaction in peer group (X1) and the learning achievement; 2) there is a significant correlation between the learning motivation (X2) and the learning achievement; and 3) there is a simultaneously significant correlation of the social interaction in peer group (X1) and the learning motivation (X2) to the learning achievement (Y). The relative contribution of the X1 variable toward the learning achievement (Y) is 21.73%, and that of the variable X2 toward the learning achievement (Y) is 78.27%. The effective contribution of the X1 variable toward the learning achievement (Y) is 16.93%, and that of the X2 variable toward the learning achievement (Y) is 60.97%.
