Abstract


Subjects of citizenship education are often not noticed by all parties in the school environment, both teachers and students. Civics are considered too much memorization, lots of reading. So that many students feel bored with this subject matter. For this reason, an activity is needed by the teacher in an effort to arouse student learning motivation, for example by using the Tatas method in learning. The purpose of this study was to describe the application of the Tatas method in increasing the learning motivation of the fifth-grade students of Tanjung Juwiring SDN 1 Klaten in the 2016/2017 school year. With the increasing learning motivation students
are expected to bring a positive impact that is improving student learning achievement. This study is a classroom action research (CAR) with the research subjects being Class V students of Tanjung Juwiring Elementary School 1 Klaten 2016/2017 school year. Data collection methods used in this study are interview, observation and questionnaire methods. The collected data were analyzed by descriptive analysis. Based on the results of the study and discussion it can be concluded as follows: 1) Through the use of the Tatas method can increase the
learning activities of fifth-grade students of Tanjung Juwiring 1 Elementary School in Klaten. This is evident from the increase in the average percentage of learning implementation from the first cycle of 83.11% to 96.23%; 2) Through the use of the Tatas method, it can increase the learning motivation of Civics in the fifth
grade students of Tanjung Juwiring 1 Elementary School in Klaten in the second semester of 2016/2017 Academic Year. This can be seen from the increase in the percentage of questionnaires for student learning motivation as a whole in the first cycle of 74.41% with the medium category and in the second cycle of 87.28%
with the high category.
