Abstract


Abstract: This study aims to determine the improvement of children's poetry reading ability with the Contextual Teaching and Learning approach for Grade V Students of SD Negeri 3 Karangpakel Trucuk Klaten Semester I 2016/2017 Academic Year. This Classroom Action Research was conducted in class V SDN 3 Karangpakel Trucuk Klaten with a total of 17 students, consisting of 3 male students and 14 female students. This classroom action research is carried out in three cycles in a continuous manner. Each cycle is carried out by planning, implementing, observing, and reflecting to find out the effectiveness of the action. Based on the analysis can be concluded as follows: First, based on observations of teacher performance obtained the results of the average score of teacher performance has increased from Cycle I learning to 1.3 Cycle II learning to 2.3, and to Cycle III learning 2.7. With enough limit score criteria is a score of 2 and a score of 3 is good; Second, based on student activity data for three cycles, the average score about student activity has increased from Cycle I learning to 1.2 Cycle II learning to 2.0 and to Cycle III learning to 2.8; Third, based on the results of the assessment of children's poetry reading with the Contextual Teaching and Learning approach, the average value of test results and assignments increased from 70.89 Cycle II learning to 75.59 and 79.71 to Cycle III learning. . The increase in the percentage of classical learning completeness as much as learning cycle I was 41.18%, Cycle II learning was 58.82%, and in Cycle III learning it reached 82.35%. Thus, through the Contextual Teaching and Learning approach, the ability to read children's poetry for Class V Students of SD Negeri 3 Karangpakel Trucuk Klaten
in the first semester of 2016/2017 school year can increase.
