Abstract


The objective of this research is to know the correlation between the academies ability, achievement motivation, and the performance of candidate of elementary school teachers. The research was a correlation study using multiple correlations and multiple regression analysis to test hypotheses. The population was the fourth grade students of PGSD program of FKIP UNS in the year 2007/2008. The sample used was 100 students. The data were obtained by using likert scale model questionnaires, test, and portfolio. The result of research shows that there is a positive correlation between (1) the academic ability and the performance of candidate of elementary school teachers ( r = 0.297 p < 0.05), (2) achievement motivation the performance of candidate of elementary school teachers ( r = 221 p<0.05), and the academic ability and achievement motivation simultaneously, and the performance of candidate of elementary school teachers (R=0.404 p<0.05). The implication of this research is that in improving the performance of candidate of elementary school teachers, academic ability and achievement motivation, must be taken into consideration.
